Bermuda style is a popular choice for Caribbean and Florida beachfront homes. This style, which features ventilated balconies, impressive entrances and large windows, is a perfect example of colonial design adapted to tropical environments.
The inspiration for the Shophouse category here is taken from the Mediterranean Bermuda Style, which is a combination of Florida Beach and Bermuda City styles.
Some of the characteristics from these two styles are white roofs, pastel-painted walls, stained louvers, arches, flower beds, patios, terraces and loggias. Wood in vibrant colors is used as accent; balustrades, columns, pergolas and balconies, often times combined with softs colors, suit the overall concept. In this architectural style, stucco walls can sometimes be replaced with brick or stone walls, performing a light, airy and comfortable feeling.
